BID WITH
CONFIDENCE THIS IS MY 11TH YEAR WITH EBAY, HUNDREDS OF SATISFIED
CUSTOMERS - THE ONLY NEGATIVE FEEDBACK I EVER HAD IN ELEVEN YEARS WAS
THE CUSTOMER'S MISTAKE AND HE FELT TERRIBLE!
Here it
is, what many
consider to be the finest acoustic guitar available for the money. Those
of you
serious enough to bid do not need an introduction. For many it is the
final leg
of the journey that took you through other acoustic guitars
as
you matured , always with your eye on the prize, on a Martin
- THE Martin. The Eric Clapton
Signature 000 -
28EC Acoustic Guitar Martin! I am not
the original owner of this instrument - there is blending and shading of
lacquer near the top headstock of the neck where it gets darker and more
lacquer which would indicate perhaps a fracture or crack at one time -
it's
hard to say because the neck is straight and everything is plumb. If
there was
a fissure of some kind then it would have had to have been repaired by
Martin
or a master repairman - I can't say - but what other reason would there
be
lacquer? Cosmetics?
There Is
evidence of a small
hairline fracture I think - but it is very shallow and almost looks to
be only
cosmetic. This guitar plays so beautifully I can't believe the
structural
integrity was ever compromised.
There
are numerous small
dings, a scratch here and there, some lacquer over spill but not at the
aforementioned areas, just nearby - go figure. The auction is for this
item AS IS.
It plays
like you're in a
dream. Perfect tones, perfect action, no buzzing no 12th fret issues -
and it's
the lightest acoustic I've ever held. Case included. New light gauge
strings
also.
Because
of this mystery, my
reserve is lower than it would normally be. RESERVE PRICE IS $1700.00 -
My last
big guitar sale on eBay
was a Guild 12 - string with the same mysteries - it was sold as is and the auction winner (from the Lone
Star state) was very very happy with it. If you don't like this Martin
you can return it for a full refund - you have 3 days to decide. And it
wouldn't
break my heart if you DID return it, because I hate to see this one go. I
won't
be sad if it doesn't sell....
That
Guild auction was one
of the biggest in eBay history with hundreds of bids, thousands of page
views
and over 100 emails. It was a feeding frenzy towards the end, so folks,
please
be polite, patient, and remember your manners. I will post answers to
emails on
the auction page.
If
you're like me, you may
have , for many years, thought
"Some day, I'm gonna get a Martin..." Well kids, today is "some
day." Good luck bidding!
LET'S DO IT AGAIN!
I'M POSTING THIS TWICE!!

I'm still trying to figure
out what "Grained Ivoroid Binding" is. This model doesn't need this schmaltz, but I'm posting it for whoever likes that sort of thing...
The
Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature Acoustic Guitar is handcrafted
with a
premium East Indian rosewood back and sides and a bookmatched top of
select
quartersawn Sitka spruce. Its smaller 000 body size and short 24-9/10"
scale help produce delicate, balanced tones. The rosette and soundboard
are
inlaid with herringbone wood marquetry, and the body is bound with
grained
ivoroid. An ebony fingerboard features a long diamonds-and-squares
pattern in
abalone pearl. Eric's signature is inlaid in mother-of-pearl between the
19th
and 20th frets. Tastefully appointed with hand-beveled tortoise
pickguard,
nickel-plated open-geared machines equipped with unique butterbean
knobs. Each
Martin Eric Clapton Signature Guitar bears an interior label,
individually
numbered in sequence. Includes a deluxe Martin hardshell case.
