This is a 1960 Martin 000-28. Serial # 174968  Visible inside guitar! Beautiful Brazilian Rosewood Back and Sides


I am a guitar lover and occasional player, not a collector, I will try to describe as clearly as I can, as I would expect the same...but please read carefully.  I am the owner for 35 years. Guitar has been in storage for 25 of last 35 years. It plays great, sounds sweet and rich like a 000-28 should. The guitar is in very good condition structurally, but it shows some of the years of playing.  Just had one X- brace reglued in one corner and neck is solid according to guitar builder who did the work. It is a players guitar, not a showpiece, but looks pretty good. There are no holes, or major divots on the body....the back shows some scratching, and the sides are in good shape (see pictures).  The scratches and scuffs on back are under the lacquer! The back must have been redone circa 1970 before I purchased guitar.The lacquer is shiny and glossy giving a wonderful, deep reflection. There are two cracks in the face of the guitar, one at bottom and behind pickguard (two inches). The other crack is finer and at top of face three inches long but barely visible.


There is no bridge lifting, it was recently reglued and new strings were installed. The saddle and nut are bone replacements, Frets and fretboard are in good shape. Action is low and very playable, at least was for me...You would not be looking at a neck reset anytime soon. It does not have a truss rod, A couple of dings in the back of the neck which is a solid piece of mahogony, but dings are not to noticeable when playing...also there is cracking in the lacquer on the back of the headstock but it shines, and Deluxe tuners are original. The original pickguard has just the slightest bit of shrinkage and is not lifting. There is a strap button on the heel in the proper position. I will include original hardshell case, pretty worn but will do the job.


 The value of this guitar is in the original condition and the lack of modifications. There are not many 1960 vintage 000-28 guitars available and I have seen a much higher price paid over the 1970s D-28s. Ebay stores are selling this year of Martin guitar for much more.
