You are bidding on a kit to build a 12 fret 0 size
guitar in solid rosewood and spruce from Martin parts. The kit features a 24.9"
scale with 12 frets to the body and 19 frets total, a fancy abalone inlaid
fretboard, dovetail neck joint, and scalloped X bracing. I'm also including
(though not pictured) a profile tracing pattern to assist the buyer in making an
accurate form for the assembly of this kit. Not a Martin factory boxed kit but made up from parts purchased at the Martin
factory for use in my luthiery business. Parts defect free unless otherwise
noted, any and all flaws are fully disclosed in this description. All parts are
guaranteed to be compatible with one another to make the instrument described
but no guarantee can be offered to cover buyer labor and end result.
Please read the entire description before submitting questions as the
answer to your question may already be in the text. Kit
includes: solid indian rosewood back (factory joined with style 28 'checker'
back purfling, the back shows straight and even grain and good color, profile
and bracing locations marked for you), solid indian rosewood sides (bent and
profiled, trim lines marked for proper length, the sides are an excellent color
and grain match for the back), solid sitka spruce top (factory joined and
rosetted, the top shows straight and even grain and good color, the grain shows
some nice medullary rays or "silking" texture, traditional X pattern top bracing
is marked for you as is the profile, the top shows one small dark fleck below
the waist and very near the edge, this is not a sap pocket or void but rather a
dark mark, most of this mark will rout out in the binding channel, I've
included a pic showing how the binding and purfling will lay over most of the
mark and leave only a small part showing), solid mahogany neck (factory machined
to near final profile, 24.9" scale, vintage "V" shaft shape, volute, dovetail
joint, slotted and drilled for high quality tuners such as Waverlys, truss rod
channel routed, there is a tiny bug hole in the shaft that has been filled with
wood dust and glue, this will become less noticable when the neck is stained
prior to finishing, it will be visible on close inspection on the finished
guitar but will be very minor and hard to see), ebony fretboard (striped ebony,
factory radiused, slotted and inlaid with fany abalone position markers, 1 3/4"
nut width), ebony bridge (vintage style rectangular or "straight" bridge with
vintage long saddle slot and 2 5/16" pin spacing), solid mahogany dovetail and
end blocks, traditional X pattern top bracing (1/4" gauge, scalloped, maple
bridge plate), back bracing, kerfed cedar lining, 2-way adjustable truss rod,
ivoroid binding, heel cap and end graft, style 28 top purflings, bone nut and
saddle blanks and bridge pins. The buyer will provide the following items which
are commonly available through various luthier supply outlets: pickguard (if
desired), tuners, glue and finish. BUYERS BEWARE OF NEWCOMERS SELLING KITS
AND PARTS ON EBAY RECENTLY. IN SEVERAL CASES INDIVIDUALS HAVE SOLD “KITS” OF
INCOMPATIBLE PARTS OR BADLY DAMAGED ITEMS WITHOUT FULL DISCLOSURE. ONE GUY
KEEPS SELLING MISMATCHED PARTS, CLOSES HIS ACCOUNT WHEN HE GETS BAD FEEDBACK AND
THEN OPENS A NEW ONE TO SELL THE SAME MIS-MATCHED OR BADLY DAMAGED ITEMS ALL
OVER AGAIN. HE'S CHANGED ACCOUNTS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT IF YOU HAVE BEEN PAYING
ATTENTION TO KIT SELLERS YOU LIKELY KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT, AND HE'S AT IT
AGAIN RIGHT NOW. I HAVE BEEN SELLING KITS ON EBAY FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND HAVE A
PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. MY PARTNER IN THE KIT BUSINESS
AND I BRING NEARLY 70 YEARS OF COMBINED GUITARMAKING EXPERIENCE TO THE
SELECTION AND PATTERNING OF THESE PARTS. Please see my feedback and bid with
confidence. This kit is offered here with no reserve and a $1 opening bid, you
decide what to pay. All parts are guaranteed to be compatible with one another
to make the guitar described. No such guarantee can be offered to cover buyer
labor and end result. Questions? Email me. But please do so as early in the
auction as possible. I answer all inquiries but cannot guarantee you will
receive a reply before the close of bidding if you wait until the end of the
auction to send your question. I do not offer any sort of plans or instructions
for this kit, such materials can be obtained from other luthier supply
outlets. Please note that not all plans and instructions are the same, and not
all are directly applicable to any one kit. The patterning that I have done is
sufficient in most cases to make the use of blueprint style plans unnecessary.
However, if you obtain such plans they may not correspond perfectly with the
patterning done in the kit as designs and plans vary somewhat. As such I
recommend all buyers contact me by email in order to clear up any confusion if
plans are purchased that don't align with the patterning provided. I accept no
responsibility for mistakes made in assembly due to incompatible plans or
instructions. Payment: In accordance with ebay's new policy regarding payment
the only payment I'm allowed to tell you about is Paypal. Email me if you have
questions about this. Payment is expected within 5 days of the close of bidding
unless other arrangements are made BEFORE YOU BID. If you cannot pay within 5
days of the end of the auction please do not bid. Buyers within the
US pay $22 for
UPS ground shipping. If you are not happy
with that shipping rate please do not bid. International bidders welcome but
please contact me BEFORE YOU BID with your
address for a shipping quote. International buyers pay a small premium ($10) to
cover costs and time of filing customs paperwork and transporting the package
out to the shipping carrier. Some foreign destinations and their typical
shipping rates (all these rates include my handling fee but NOT
insurance): Australia ($76.20), Japan ($59.50), UK and most of western
Europe ($55.50), Canada ($39.50). Insurance will add a few dollars to the rate
for international buyers based on the final bid price. I require payment by Paypal for all buyers outside the
US. Notice to
non-US buyers...I will not falsify value information on customs forms to save
you on import taxes, please don't ask. NYS buyers must pay 8% state sales tax.
RETURNS: I will only accept returns under the condition that the item is
demonstrably different than described. In such a case the buyer must contact me
before returning the item to register his/her concern and receive approval for
the return. More detailed terms regarding returns can be found elsewhere on the
listing. I have been selling kits on ebay for over 10 years now and in all that
time have only had a small handful of returns. See my feedback and bid with
confidence. Please see my other auctions this week for more
kits.
